Production Notes
Production Notes
The grapes were carefully selected and destemmed, with each variety being vinified separately. Fermentation took place with selected yeasts at controlled temperatures of 30°C. Vinification took place in stainless steel tanks to retain the purity of fruit and the expression of the Maremma terroir. After pressing, the wine was put into oak tonneaux and barriques of second and third passage for 15 to 18 months. The wine then received further bottle ageing, prior to being released.

Federico Vanni has always been passionate about cultivating the vine and the local rural traditions of his homeland, the Maremma region of Tuscany. In 2001, he realised his dream when he established the San Felo Wine Estate and started creating memorable wines which evoke the flavours of the region. The name San Felo pays homage to his family; his mother Sandra (San), himself (Fe) and his brother Lorenzo (lo).
The estate covers approximately 50 hectares, of which 33 hectares are dedicated to the vine, in the beautiful region close to the Tyrrhenian Sea. Federico works with local renowned winemaker Fabrizio Moltard, formerly of Angelo Gaja, and together Federico and Fabrizio create stunning wines which are an authentic reflection of the region.
